Under section 78 of the Highways Act 1986, you must obtain a highway licence to place an ‘A’ board on the public highway. Douglas Borough Council considers applications by businesses wishing to obtain a highway licence. However, after Friday 30th June 2017 there will be a blanket ban on the use of ‘A’ boards on the public highway in Douglas, therefore, all licences issued from now on will expire on this date and no further licences will be issued after this date.

More information and an application form are available here on the Douglas Borough Council website.
